Betydning af det nye LCA-krav

Since January 2023, the Danish Building Regulations have required climate impact for new construction. This means concretely that life cycle assessments (LCA) must be made for new construction. For larger buildings, a limit value of 12 kgCO2e/m²/year has been introduced. It will have an impact on the design of buildings and the materials they are built from. The goal of the legislation is to reduce CO2 emissions from new construction, and the limit value will be tightened already in 2025.

At the presentation, Lone will enlighten you on sustainability in construction, the meaning of the new LCA requirement and what it means for the construction and property industry as well as what it is expected to mean for the development of construction going forward.

Lone Mortensen is a civil engineer and PhD. from the Technical University of Denmark. After this, her work with sustainability started as a consulting engineer. Later, she worked at the Norwegian Building Research Institute, where she worked with authorities in relation to regulation in the Building Regulations, and i.a. has been involved in mapping sustainability in construction and the work with Roadmap 2030 - The role of buildings in the green transition, which contains recommendations from the Energy Industry and the Construction Industry. She also helped start work on the development of a voluntary sustainability class for the Building Regulations. In addition, she has been involved in the Danish adaptation of the DGNB certification scheme for sustainable construction.

She has also taught sustainability at Aalborg University CPH, and she is part of the Association of Consulting Engineers' (FRI) Taskforce on Sustainable Construction. For the past 6 years, she has again worked as a consulting engineer regarding sustainability in construction and is now department manager for sustainability at ABC Consulting Engineers. Here she works actively with sustainability certification of construction, as a DGNB auditor.
